Halcro : DM58
The Halcro dm58 Amplifier is a high-end monoblock audio amplifier that can claim distortion levels of 100 times lower than that of any other amplifier produced. The unique requirements for housing this technology, combined with a desire to reflect the quantum leap of the technology in the appearance of the product, gave Designmakers the opportunity to carry out a complete reinterpretation of the amplifier aesthetic.
The principle function of this product, like all components in a high-end audio system, is to faithfully reproduce the experience of a live performance. It takes a low input signal from the source component (eg. CD Player) and amplifies it, with the absolute minimum of distortion, before outputting it to the loudspeakers.
In 2002, the Halcro dm58 was awarded GOOD DESIGN AWARD by the Chicago Athenaeum, Museum of Architecture and Design for innovative industrial design. The award came with an invitation for the amplifier to join the museum's permanent design collection.
